Why do items take 7 to 14 days for shipping?

NPTressTreats is a small independent business, we do not have a factory overseas or a big warehouse full of stock. Our items are made to order especially for you with love and care. We do not have a warehouse full of items sitting on the shelf. Each item is made after the order is placed. We take pride in creating each individual item just for the customer who ordered it.

Additionally, after treats are made, they are washed and packaged to order. Items are washed because fabric is often stored in a large warehouse and we want to ensure items are clean and ready for you to wear once they arrive.

I always watch your IG stories and see that you often share behind the scenes of making orders, however, I have not seen my order. Has my order been started?

Perhaps you've seen Alisha sewing away on Social Media and you're wondering if that could be YOUR order?!?! It very well could be!!! Each and every order is sewn with Love AFTER you place your order. Alisha does not have a warehouse or factory. She lovingly prepares each and every order as it comes across her desk. As such, every order takes approx 7-14 days to produce in the sewing room before we package and ship it to you. Although I share some “behind the scenes” moments, I don’t share all of them. I wish I could record and share everything I am doing but unfortunately that slows down the process. Thank you for your understanding.

Why are all sales final?

All of our pieces are meant to be worn. Regardless of personal hair or face product use, all human skin produces oil. Even unseen, these oils seep into fabric. Because of this, all sales are final.

Can I mail my bonnet back for an elastic replacement?

Unfortunately, due to hygienic reasons, we no longer offer elastic replacement services.

How do I wash my satin treats?

Bonnets, Pillowcases, and Shower Caps: Hand wash or machine wash cold with like colors on gentle cycle with NPTressTreats bonnet wash. No bleach. Tumble dry on low or line dry.

Wraps, Headbands, Scrunchies: Hand wash with cold water. Hang to dry.

Mini satin travel/accessory bags should be hand washed and laid flat to dry.

How do I deep condition with my shower bonnet?

NPTressTreats satin-lined shower bonnets can be reversed and used as a conditioning cap just like a regular plastic cap. To get the most out of your deep conditioner, it's best to leave it in for a little while. You don't want to walk around your bathroom with hair full of conditioner though. So, here is what you do.

Shampoo your hair like always do, rinse it out, apply the conditioner, and put on your shower bonnet. With satin side facing out. The shower cap traps the conditioner in so it can work its way into your cuticles.

Deep conditioning without heat is not necessarily heat-less. I would consider it to be low heat because it's the process of using your natural body heat with a plastic shower bonnet.

What is the difference between a regular size and jumbo size shower bonnet?

My shower bonnet gathers dirt between the layers, how do I fix that?

Bathrooms naturally have higher humidity than other rooms in our homes. See our washing instructions above. We recommend rinsing your shower bonnet in the sink every other use in addition to a weekly machine wash. Our Bonnet Wash can be used either in the sink or in the washing machine.

How do I get me items to be scented with the same lavender scent like when I purchased my treats?

You can purchase our Sleeping Beauty Pillow Mist or you can use any lavender of your choice to make your own lavender scent. add a few drops of lavender essential oil to hands and rub on items.

My bonnet is too snug, how do I loosen?

From my experience, the elastic loosens up over time. Bonnets are made snug enough to avoid falling off.  Two options I've read to loosen the elastic is to 1) place in the dryer on high heat (do not do this often because it will break down the elastic) or 2) place around something large such as an ironing board or the back of a chair for a few hours to allow to stretch.

Why is my bonnet loose?

Elastic loosening up over time is considered normal wear and tear. Some can go a year or two with their bonnets, others, less time. It just depends on wear, wash, hair care products, natural oils from our bodies, etc. Just like clothing (panties, bras, elastic waist bands, etc.) Bonnets go through the same wear and tear. The biggest difference is, Bonnets are at our hair line. Our scalp produces and excretes more natural oils than the rest of our body, so naturally, elastic at the hairline vs say, the waist, will loosen and break down faster because of these oils.

Washing your Bonnet regularly is your best defense against loosening elastic. We recommend a cold machine wash on gentle as often as needed (or hand wash) with a no preservatives detergent. Using a bit of white vinegar helps as fabric softener as well. We also carry a bonnet wash if you are interested.

Lastly, we wouldn't wash and wear one bra or one pair of panties over and over each day.  Because of the natural body oils at the hairline, we recommend owning a few bonnets so you can rotate and wash them just like any other undergarment.

Are all bonnets one size?

Warning: Size does matter! We offer six different bonnet sizes. The elastic measurements are listed below to give you an idea of bonnet circumference (sizes are approximations given that bonnets are handmade). What’s the difference between a wrap and a scarf?

At NPTT we sometimes use the two terms interchangeably. We like to describe a scarf as an item and wrap as an action. Wrap is what you do with your scarf. Wrap your hair, wrap your pillowcase, etc.

What size are your scarves?

Our scarves are approximately 35" X 35". If you would like a larger scarf, we do offer custom made larger options. Click here to check out our Custom Order & Special Request page to submit your larger scarf option!

Are bonnets only for black women?

Absolutely not! They aren't even only for curly hair! Satin protects ALL hair types because the fabric acts as a barrier against moisture-absorbing fabrics like cotton. This prevents split ends caused by hair drying out. By using satin you maintain the moisture produced by your body's natural oils or added hydration. Result: Healthier Hair for ALL!

What is satin? What kind of satin do you use?

This is a great question!  A common misconception is that satin is a fiber.  In fact satin is a method of weaving fibers together that results in the soft, flowing fabric you see and love.  Satin can be made from nylon, viscose, silk, polyester, or cotton.  When satin is made from cotton, it is called sateen.  The satin we source is considered satin charmeuse.  Satin charmeuse is a luxurious fabric renowned for its smooth, shiny finish and silky texture. Satin charmeuse is a very soft and lightweight polyester satin. This particular blend offer the benefits of breathability, practicality, durability, ease of care, is less prone to wrinkles, more resistant to fading, and guilt-free (no silk worms are harmed in the making of our products), We know our clients sleep in our products so we put much thought into the materials we choose.

What is overlock stitching?

An overlock stitch connects two pieces of fabric by using a series of thread loops that wrap around the outer edge of the material to prevent it from fraying. This stitch is used for hemming, decorative purposes or for reinforcement because of its strength. It is often used on seams, in fact, you'll see it on many of your pants inseams! We use it on our pieces because of its strength since our clients are generally sleeping in our products.

Why don’t you like to handle communication with clients on Social Media private message?

We do not monitor Social Media Messaging throughout each day because we are generally sewing up your beautiful orders! We ask clients to communicate with us via email (info@nptresstreats.com) or via our contact form. This way your request is sure to be seen and responded to appropriately. Additionally, messages tend to get lost in the shuffle in DMs. Every time someone comments on a story, your DM gets pushed further down the queue. And we don’t want your message to get lost.
