Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Katherine, but I like to go by Kat! I'm a native Floridan, who would rather hang out in the shade then the sun, but I would much rather the heat over the cold!! I am a dance teacher and have been for almost 20 years! Besides loving to dance, I also love sharing my curl journey, I am an absolute makeup addict annnnd I enjoy making my own jewelry, crafting, sewing, reading, gaming, napping, dressing up for Halloween & the Renaissance Fair - I love lots of things!! I live with my amazing Hubby, Nic and our handsome fur baby, Bowser, it's always an adventurous time, with my boys! I strive every day to inspire & to be inspired!
How do you currently wear your hair?
Curly, curly & curly! I usually like to wear my curls down, with a side part on the left! If the curls go up, they will most likely be in a pineapple or messy bun. I am slowly trying to get out of my curl styling comfort zone!
When did you start using a bonnet?
I joined the Bonnet Baddie life in late 2019 - I can't believe it took me so long to join the club!
Do you use any other satin products?
I use so many satin products! Besides my bonnet I use scrunchies, scarves, pillowcases and NPTressTreat's amazing Satin Lined Shower Cap!!
How did you find out about NPTressTreats?
NPTressTreats entered my life when I received a box from Curly Lox Box, a monthly *curl friendly* subscription and I have been OBSESSED with NPTT ever since! I think I have been using NPTT products for almost 4 years!
What size bonnet do you wear?
I think I am Regular/Standard size.
Over the ear?
Nah, I'm not that kind of girl!
Behind the ear?
Always.
Do you pineapple?
100%, absolutely, yes I do & often! LOL
What's the funniest/strangest thing you've used to protect your hair?
Definitely a plastic grocery bag! I would keep extra in my car, just in case I ever needed one - rainy days in FL happen often or sneak up randomly, gotta be ready!
How do you determine what you will use (that night) for hair protection? Bonnet? Scarf?
On the 1st to 3rd day, I like to use double protection: scarf & then cover with a bonnet.
On 4th to 6th-ish day, I will use a satin scrunchie, then cover with a bonnet. On 7th till *don't want to mention it* day, I will use a satin scrunchie ONLY to style my curls in a pineapple or messy bun... AND I also sleep on a NPTT satin pillowcase every night!
How often and how do you wash your satin treats?
I try to wash them once a week, usually "Wash Day", it's so helpful - curls are clean and my satin treats are clean too, WIN WIN!! I will wash them in laundry mesh bags on delicate cycle, then either dry on delicate setting or hang to air dry.
What's your favorite print?
I always love to wear snake print, it's my FAVE animal print!
Any print you would like to see?
I would say Harry Potter, but NPTT already has it, so I guess all I need to do is add that to the list of satin treats I NEED!!... Oh! Maybe ALIENS (Sigourney Weaver/Xenomorph) themed Satin Treats, I would be all about that!!
Any hair tips you would like to add?
Try everything, every curl method or tool, try it at least once and experiment with what methods/tools work best for your curls! Be patient, be consistent, because healthy habits will create healthy, happy curls!
